JINR computer communication links to INTERNET

In 1995 a terrestrial digital 64 Kbit communication link to an INTERNET node in Moscow was put into operation. Thus, there are two satellite and one terrestrial JINR-INTERNET channels (fig.1). A CISCO-router was put into practice, too. It permits automatic change-over of the information stream between the channels in case of failure of one of them. These promotions strongly increase JINR reliability of communications with the outside world.

Program facilities allowing to obtain statistics on the communication links operation for any period of time have been designed.

An average traffic has mounted to 1 GByte/day by the end of the year, the output traffic being over the input one.
