Congratulations to Liudmila Aleksandrovna Siurakshina on her anniversary!

On 6 December, Liudmila Aleksandrovna Siurakshina, Senior Researcher at the Scientific and Technical Department of Software and Information Support of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, celebrated her anniversary.

In 1988, L.A. Siurakshina graduated from the Physics Faculty of Kuibyshev State University. In 1989, she was seconded to BLTP JINR. In 1994, after completing her postgraduate studies and successfully defending her PhD thesis, she was hired as a senior researcher at MLIT JINR.

L.A. Siurakshina is a highly qualified specialist in the field of quantum-chemical computing and numerical methods of solid state physics.

The results of research on the anisotropic and frustrated Heisenberg model, the electronic properties of transition metal oxides and other new materials gained international recognition.

In 1999, L.A. Siurakshina was seconded to Germany, and from 1999 to 2006, she worked at the Max Planck Institute in Dresden and at the University of Leipzig.

In subsequent years, Liudmila Aleksandrovna was involved in the elaboration of new methods for the numerical analysis of the properties of modern functional materials. Her work significantly enhanced the cluster method for the quantum-chemical computations of the electronic structure and magnetic interactions in materials with strong electron correlations. The results of this method’s application are presented in a series of publications, for which, in 2019, Liudmila Aleksandrovna as part of the authors’ team was awarded the JINR Second Prize in Theoretical Physics.

Within the investigation of the chemical properties of superheavy elements, L.A. Siurakshina performed the numerical modeling of the interaction of atoms of superheavy elements with a crystalline surface in gas thermochromatography experiments.

At present, Liudmila Aleksandrovna develops quantum algorithms for solving physics and chemistry problems. L.A. Siurakshina is the author and co-author of over 40 scientific papers, many of which are published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

For many years, Liudmila Aleksandrovna has been a teacher at Dubna University, where she delivers a course on computational methods of quantum chemistry.

In 2021, she was awarded JINR’s Letter of Gratitude for her conscientious work. She enjoys well-deserved authority and respect among colleagues.

On behalf of the MLIT Directorate, colleagues, and friends, we congratulate Liudmila Aleksandrovna on her anniversary and wish her good health, energy, and great achievements in her work.
