Practical experience in developing systems for GPU computing and high-performance data processing

Abstract:

The report will present practical experience in developing systems for high-performance computing on graphics accelerators. On the example of implemented projects - from a training project on the implementation of the general GPGPU scheme in a Web browser environment (based on WebGPU technology) to a research system whose goal is to optimize calculations in OpenFOAM using GPU resources for the task of creating data center cooling systems - key architectural solutions and problems of integrating GPU computing into distributed environments will be considered.

The report will look at:

  • General experience in the development and integration of GPU-solvers on OpenFOAM environment;
  • Interfaces of interaction with GPU: from the platform of the modern Web browser to native cross-platform solutions;
  • Architecture of the GPU interaction system via the Vulkan API for effective scientific calculations, the problems that arise and their solutions;
  • Containerization and orchestration of GPU tasks: emerging problems and practical approaches based on Kubernetes.
