International seminar “NICA Days - 2024” was organized in Kazakhstan On May 17, an international seminar “NICA Days - 2024” organized by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and KazNRTU, ( г. Алматы) was held at the Kazakh National Research Technical K. I. Satpayev University in a mixed format. The participants reviewed the status of the NICA megasciences project and discussed the physical program of the experimental facilities of the accelerator complex: BM@N, MPD, SPD and ARIADNA. The event was organized, among other things, to inform students, postgraduates, young scientists and attract them to the project. Opening the seminar, Sayabek Sakhiyev, general director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics (INP) of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented an overview of the scientific activities of the country's only center for fundamental and applied research and training in the nuclear industry. He spoke about the history and achievements of INP, as well as the development of international cooperation and plans for future joint projects. JINR Laboratory of High Energy Physics (LHEP) Deputy Director for Scientific Work Alexander Sorin made a presentation “JINR and NICA”, prepared jointly with JINR Vice-Director Vladimir Kekelidze. A historical background on the establishment of the Joint Institute was presented, a review of the scientific activities of all JINR laboratories, their projects and research from the founding of the Institute to the present time was made, and a roadmap for the development of key projects was presented. The seminar featured reports and presentations by the heads of collaborations of the NICA accelerator complex, demonstrating the capabilities of the complex, presenting its main structural facilities, and noting the progress in the development of the MPD and BM@N facilities. Valery Lebedev, Deputy Head of the JINR LHEP Accelerator Department for Scientific Work, gave an overview report for students, which was devoted to collider physics and the NICA accelerator complex. He told about the history and prospects of collider development and demonstrated the types of existing accelerator complexes and their structural components. Director of the JINR Laboratory of Information Technologies Sergey Shmatov made a presentation on the project of the JINR Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex (MICC JINR) and its significant role in processing large volumes of experimental data from Joint Institute projects. In conclusion, a discussion session was held, where, in addition to the presented reports, the participants discussed formats for future cooperation of students and postgraduates of KazNRTU with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.. The international seminar “NICA Days - 2024” was the final event of the 12th Collaboration Meeting of the BM@N experiment in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was held on May 13 - 17, and where, among others, presentations were made by the staff of MLIT Masulmanbekov J., Balashev N., Sokolov I., Alexandrov I., Pelevanyuk I., Baranov D., Alexandrov E.. In addition, the 7th Collaboration Meeting of the SPD experiment, will be held in Kazakhstan from May 20-24, where the physical program of the experiment will be reviewed in detail and plans for new research in spin physics will be presented.
