Meetings with colleagues from Mexico, Uzbekistan and Japan On 26 March, a meeting of the MLIT Directorate with colleagues from the JINR Member States and partner countries was organized at the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies. Participants of the JINR CP session, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Ayupov, Researcher of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and MPD Institutional Board Chair Alejandro Ayala, Spokesperson of the international collaboration of the COMET experiment (Japan) Satoshi Mihara, visited the Laboratory. DLNP Director Evgeny Yakushev, FLNP Deputy Director Sergey Kulikov, and Head of the national group of Uzbekistan at JINR Anvar Inoyatov also took part in the meeting. MLIT Director Sergei Shmatov, his Deputy Nikolay Voytishin, and MLIT Scientific Leader Vladimir Korenkov told the guests about the Laboratory’s scientific program and, first of all, about computing for the NICA, Baikal-GVD, and JUNO megascience projects, as well as the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. MLIT’s experience in organizing a unified computing environment that integrates resources of various types not only within JINR, but also including computing clusters in other scientific organizations of the Institute’s Member States and worldwide was presented. The participants of the meeting discussed the possibilities of developing high-speed communication channels between MLIT JINR and China and the support that could be provided by the telecommunication resources of Uzbekistan, as well as the advantages of establishing such a level of communication with Latin American countries via Mexico. Special attention was paid to the issues of monitoring traffic between MLIT and the UNAM computing cluster. Vladimir Korenkov invited the guests to participate in the 11th international conference “Distributed Computing and Grid Technologies in Science and Education” (GRID’2025). Within the visit to MLIT, the guests were given a tour of the JINR Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex, where they became familiar with the organization and key components. After the tour, the MLIT Directorate and President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Ayupov held an additional discussion with the aim of preparing for the upcoming JINR Days in Uzbekistan in April. Particular attention during the discussion was paid to the participation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the CMS experiment at the LHC at CERN. The possibilities of training personnel at JINR, in particular, engineering and technical personnel, were discussed. The parties talked about the work of the cloud computing cluster at the Institute of Nuclear Physics in Tashkent, integrated into the JINR computing network, as well as prospects for organizing a new cluster based on the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Shavkat Ayupov listened with interest to information about MLIT’s work in the field of machine learning as applied to agriculture for the detection and prediction of plant diseases. Following the discussion, the parties agreed to organize additional meetings within JINR Days in Uzbekistan on 21-25 April this year for a more in-depth acquaintance with the MLIT scientific program and the elaboration of further steps to enhance cooperation.
