Sad Information about A. Sapozhnikov

Directorate of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies (MLIT) informs with deep regret that on July 24, 2021, JINR honorary employee, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, senior researcher of the Scientific and Technical Department of Software and Information Support of MLIT Alexander Pavlovich Sapozhnikov died.
Sapozhnikov A.P. was born on August 27, 1951 in Chebakovo, Tutaevsky district, Yaroslavl region. Alexander Pavlovich began working at MLIT (LCTA) in 1973 after graduating from the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
During his work at LCTA JINR, Aleksandr Pavlovich became one of the leading developers of the Dubna operating system for the BESM-6 computer. For a number of years, he was the main distributor of this system to large scientific centers of the republics of the former USSR. With his direct participation, BESM-6 was equipped with such devices, new for those times, such as magnetic disks, EC-5012 tape recorders, displays, flatbed plotters, which required a serious modernization of the software of this machine. The great contribution of A.P. Sapozhnikov contributed to the creation of systems for batch and dialogue processing of tasks on the BESM-6, as well as to the development of libraries of programs for general and special purposes.
