Announcement

Congratulations to Taisiya Petrovna Puzynina!

On 14 September 2023, Taisiya Petrovna Puzynina, Lead Researcher of the Scientific Department of Computational Physics of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, celebrates her 85th birthday.

Taisiya Petrovna has been working at JINR since 1960 after graduating from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The beginning of her career is associated with the Mathematical Department of the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and the JINR Computing Center, and since 1966 with the Laboratory of Computing Techniques and Automation (now the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies).

T.P. Puzynina is a highly qualified specialist in the field of applied mathematics, capable of solving mathematical and computational problems arising in theoretical and experimental physics at a high scientific level. Her first works were related to experimental data processing. Since 1964, she has been developing numerical methods for solving the two-center problem in quantum mechanics and has made significant contributions to the development of mathematical methods, computational schemes and software packages for solving problems in quantum mechanics and mesomolecular physics. The numerical studies of these problems made it possible to achieve important physics results that have gained international recognition. Based on the results of these studies, in 1970, Taisiya Petrovna defended her thesis for an academic degree of Ph.D. in physical and mathematical sciences on the topic “Numerical Solution of the Two-center Problem in Quantum Mechanics,” and in 2003, she defended her doctoral thesis on the topic “Modified Newtonian Schemes for the Numerical Study of Quantum-field Models.”

Taisiya Petrovna always devotes a lot of time and effort to training the Laboratory’s scientific staff, sharing her experience with young specialists, providing advice and consultations. In 1974–1979, she was the scientific secretary of the LCTA (MLIT) Specialized Scientific Council. Under the supervision of T.P. Puzynina, two Ph.D. theses were prepared and successfully defended; in 2005, she was a scientific consultant on a doctoral thesis.

T.P. Puzynina is the author and co-author of over 200 scientific papers. In 1986, the contribution of T.P. Puzynina and a team of co-authors to the work “Creation of Methods for Solving the Quantum Mechanical Three-body Problem and their Application to the Problem of Muon Catalysis of Nuclear Fusion Reactions” was awarded the JINR Prize. In 2008, the work “Study of the Models of Thermal and Thermoelastic Processes in the Interaction of Heavy Ions with Materials” was awarded the JINR Prize. Currently, Taisiya Petrovna continues to participate in work related to the numerical study of mathematical models of complex physical systems.

The fruitful work of Taisiya Petrovna was marked with well-deserved awards, namely, the medals “For Valiant Labor. In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of V.I. Lenin”, “In Commemoration of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow”, the departmental badge of distinction in labor “Veteran of Nuclear Energy and Industry”, JINR’s Certificates of Honor, JINR’s Honorary Diploma and Letter of Appreciation from the Governor of the Moscow Region. In 2016, she was awarded the title of “Honorary Fellow of JINR”.

Hard work, professionalism and high responsibility for the assigned work, goodwill and willingness to help – these qualities have earned Taisiya Petrovna well-deserved authority, respect and love from her colleagues.

Dear Taisiya Petrovna! We sincerely congratulate you on your anniversary and wish you energy and success in all your endeavors, excellent health, good mood, prosperity, love of all your family and friends. Let your children and grandchildren delight you with their attention and care. All the best to you!
