Delegation of Uzbekistan visited JINR On September 21, representatives of the leadership of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (AS RUz) visited the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research: Acting President of the AS RUz Sirojiddin Mirzaev and Vice President of the Academy Gairat Bakhadirov. Receiving the delegation, vice director of JINR Sergey Dmitriev expressed condolences on behalf of the Institute's Directorate in connection with the death of the President of the AS RUz, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan at JINR, member of the Scientific Council of the Institute Bekhzod Yuldashev. "This is a loss not only for you, but also for us: Bekhzod Sadykovich was a great friend of the Joint Institute, and for us this is a great loss," said Sergey Dmitriev. At the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of fundamental and applied research, organizational issues, including the participation of the delegation of Uzbekistan in the upcoming November session of the Finance Committee and the meeting of the Committee of Plenipotentiaries. “Uzbekistan and JINR have a deep tradition of cooperation since the establishment of the Institute in the mid-1950s. I am confident that the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan will continue to develop this tradition and strengthen the established long-term ties. Many physicists of Uzbekistan worked and defended their qualification works at JINR. Our young specialists actively participate in internships and schools held at the Institute. At the current stage, cooperation with JINR in the field of personnel training is of particular importance, including in connection with plans to develop nuclear energy in Uzbekistan,” emphasized Sirojiddin Mirzayev.
