Congratulations to Nikolai Demyanovich Dikusar

On 10 May 2025, Nikolai Demyanovich Dikusar, Leading Researcher of the Scientific Department of Computational Physics of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, celebrated his 85th birthday.

N.D. Dikusar has been working at JINR since 1966. His scientific activity started with the development, creation and implementation of mathematical support systems for semi-automatic and scanning measuring devices. Using the software package he created, more than half a million photos from the JINR magnetic spark spectrometer were processed in automatic mode. Based on the data, a new resonance was discovered, and the double charge exchange of negative pions on nuclei at 40 GeV/c was investigated.

N.D. Dikusar proposed a new fundamental approach to the creation of effective methods for processing experimental data, which are robust to errors and have reduced computational complexity. He developed and applied in practice a new construction of a polynomial in the form of an expansion in basis elements, on top of which a new direction in the field of approximation and smoothing of complex dependencies was created. The efficiency of the method of basis elements was verified in practice, and the methods proposed by him remain relevant in computational mathematics. The results obtained by N.D. Dikusar focus on application in systems of detection and digital processing of signals, as well as of data processing within physical experiments. He also developed and investigated an explicit method for the numerical solution of stiff Cauchy problems of fifth-order accuracy with two inversions to the right-hand side.

N.D. Dikusar is a highly qualified specialist in mathematical data processing, computational mathematics and system programming. He has published over 80 scientific papers in Russian and foreign scientific journals. For a number of years, he has been engaged in scientific-pedagogical work.

For his achievements in work, Nikolai Demyanovich was awarded the departmental badge of distinction in labor “Veteran of Nuclear Energy and Industry”, JINR’s Certificates of Honor, and JINR’s Honorary Diploma. In 2016, he was awarded the title of “Honorary Fellow of JINR”.

Dear Nikolai Demyanovich! We sincerely congratulate you on your anniversary and wish you good health, prosperity and happiness, energy and success in your work. May your loved ones delight you with their love. All the very best to you!
