SPbSU–JINR agreement on cooperation in information technologies signed

On 30 June, an agreement on the creation of an SPbSU–JINR joint scientific and educational laboratory was signed within the session of the Scientific Council of the Physical Sciences Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Heavy Ion Physics “Relativistic Nuclear Physics and Heavy Ion Physics”. MLIT Scientific Leader Vladimir Korenkov participated in the signing ceremony.

The Laboratory is established to solve tasks in the field of information technologies within high-energy physics and to train qualified personnel. The document was signed by JINR Vice-Director, RAS Academician Vladimir Kekelidze and SPbSU Vice-Rector for Research Sergey Mikushev. The JINR Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies and the SPbSU Lyapunov Research Laboratory will cooperate within the agreement.

The scientific component of the activities of the Scientific and Educational Laboratory embraces the development of new methods for storing, structuring and processing data, as well as the creation of highly effective algorithms to solve complex tasks, decision support systems in the conditions of incomplete and fuzzy data within the objectives of the experiments of the NICA accelerator complex. In addition, senior students in IT specialties will be trained on the basis of the Scientific and Educational Laboratory.
