Congratulations to Adam Sanda-Anka on her anniversary!

On 11 July 2025, Sanda Anca Adam, Chief Researcher of the Scientific Department of Computational Physics of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, celebrated her anniversary.

In 1968, Sanda Anca Adam graduated from the Faculty of Physics of the University of Bucharest with a degree in theoretical physics. In the same year, she started her scientific career at the Institute of Atomic Physics. In 1977, Sanda Anca Adam began working at the Institute of Physics and Nuclear Engineering, and since 1996, she is an employee of Horia Hulubei National Institute for R&D in Physics and Nuclear Engineering, Bucharest, Romania. In 1983, she defended her doctoral thesis entitled “Crystal Field and Magnetic Anisotropy of Different Syngonies”.

The scientific biography of Sanda Anca Adam is closely connected with JINR. In 1979-1983, she was a researcher at the Bogoliubov Laboratory of Theoretical Physics, in 2003-2008, she was a senior and leading researcher at MLIT, in 2009-2013, she was MLIT Deputy Director for Scientific Work, and since February 2013, she is a chief researcher at the MLIT Scientific Department of Computational Physics.

Sanda Anca Adam successfully works in the field of development and application of computational physics methods in the investigations of transition metal properties, crystal field and magnetic anisotropy in rare earth compounds, relativistic charged particle channeling, high-temperature superconductivity.

Her latest research activities embrace work on developing a Bayesian approach for numerically solving integrals using automatic adaptive quadratures, on investigating the mechanisms of high-temperature superconductivity in cuprates within the two-band Hubbard model, on studying issues of enhancing the performance of large-scale computing systems with multi-core processors and adapting numerical algorithms for computations on such systems.

Sanda Anca Adam is the author and co-author of over 120 scientific papers, a laureate of the Hurmuzescu Prize of the Romanian Academy of Sciences. In 2013, her work on theoretical physics, conducted in collaboration with colleagues, was awarded JINR’s First Prize. In 2016, Sanda Anca Adam got the title of “Honorary Fellow of JINR”, and in 2021, she was awarded JINR’s Honorary Diploma.

On behalf of the Institute’s Directorate and MLIT, we sincerely congratulate Sanda Anca Adam on her anniversary and wish her good health, new scientific achievements, happiness, family well-being, and more joyful events.
