Modernization of the Position-Sensitive Detector Data Converter for the YuMO Spectrometer

Seminar of the scientific department of computational physics

Speaker: A.G. Soloviev

Abstract:

This paper presents the results of a comprehensive modernization of the PSD2SAS software — a data converter for the position-sensitive detector (PSD) of the YuMO small-angle neutron scattering spectrometer. The modernization addressed three key aspects: transition to the ROOT data format, which simplified the workflow and doubled data reading speed; correction of accuracy algorithms, including elimination of data loss at detector edges and introduction of analytical area intersection calculations; and optimization of multithreading, achieving an overall 2.9× performance improvement. The program has become faster, more accurate, and more user-friendly, significantly enhancing experimental data processing capabilities for the YuMO spectrometer.
