Congratulations to Vladimir Valentinovich Trofimov on his anniversary! On 22 November 2025, Vladimir Valentinovich Trofimov, Lead Programmer at the Scientific and Technical Department of External Communications and Distributed Information Systems of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies, celebrates his 70th birthday. In 1978, V.V. Trofimov graduated from the Radio Engineering Department of Kirov Ural Polytechnic Institute. In 1981, he started working at the JINR Laboratory of High Energy as a research intern, then as a researcher, and in 1991 as a senior researcher. He was a system programmer on EC series computers used to support online experiments at the synchrophasotron and became a highly qualified specialist in programming and experiment automation. He participated as a programmer in the FLNR DC60 project. V.V. Trofimov has been working as a lead programmer at MLIT since 1998. During his time at MLIT, Vladimir Valentinovich worked on various mass storage systems and mastered the dCache, XROOTD, Enstore, EOS, CTA, Big Data management systems, as well as large-scale system monitoring tools, which allowed him to become one of the leading specialists at the MLIT shared access center. V.V. Trofimov manages data storage systems in the JINR Tier1 and Tier2 grid structure on top of TS3500 and TS4500 automated tape libraries. Approximately 50 PB of data is currently under his control. Vladimir Valentinovich’s responsibilities include maintaining the constant readiness of the T1 and T2 systems, updating storage system software versions, transitioning to new systems, and changing configurations when introducing new hardware. Within the large grid infrastructure modeling group, V.V. Trofimov participates in the creation of digital twins of facilities for the Russian NICA megaproject. As a result of this work, three software registration certificates were obtained. The next version of the model with expanded functionality has been elaborated and tested. V.V. Trofimov has 130 published papers. For his achievements, Vladimir Valentinovich was awarded the departmental badge of distinction in labor “Veteran of Nuclear Energy and Industry”, JINR’s Honorary Diploma, and a Letter of Gratitude from the Head of the Dubna Town District. As part of a group of authors, he received the JINR First Prize in scientific and methodological research in 2013, and the Second Prize for scientific-methodological and scientific-technical work in 2021. He enjoys well-deserved respect and authority at the Laboratory and the Institute.
