New opportunities for fostering cooperation with India

On 16 February 2026, Satyaranjan Santra, Head of the Nuclear Astrophysics Section of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC, India), accompanied byFLNR researcher Aniruddha Dey, visited the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies.

At MLIT, Satyaranjan Santra were presented an overview of MLIT's scientific activities. He was also given a tour, during which the BARC representative viewed the JINR Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex and learned about its operational features and capabilities.

During the visit, Satyaranjan Santra met with the Laboratory’s Directorate represented by MLIT Director Sergei Shmatov, his Deputy Nikolay Voytishin, and MLIT Scientific Secretary Olga Derenovskaia. The discussion focused on strengthening scientific contacts between BARC and JINR in the field of information technology to organize joint research. Satyaranjan Santra identified quantum computing in the field of theoretical developments and DNA modeling as a key area of scientific interest. Representative of BARC also expressed great interest in the possibilities of gaining access to JINR’s computing power.

Satyaranjan Santra’s visit to JINR took place on 15–21 February. Throughout this time, the guest became acquainted with JINR’s Laboratories and University Centre, held a series of business meetings with the JINR Directorate and representatives of the Indian national group at JINR. Furthermore, a scientific seminar by Satyaranjan Santra on the latest achievements in nuclear physics research at BARC was organized at FLNR JINR.
