Strengthening collaboration in supercomputing with Russia’s leading university On 19 February 2026, Scientific Leader of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies Vladimir Korenkov visited Lomonosov Moscow State University. During the visit, he met with Anatoly Gulyaev, Vice Dean of the MSU Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics (CMC) and Head of the MSU-270 project. Vladimir Korenkov also viewed the computing center where the MSU-270 supercomputer is located. During the meeting, Vladimir Korenkov and Anatoly Gulyaev discussed a number of issues related to enhancing cooperation. MLIT’s expertise in the use of tape libraries and their integration with a supercomputer is of particular interest to MSU colleagues. The possibility of connecting the tape library of the previous IBM Blue Gene/P supercomputer (commissioned in 2023) to the new MSU-270 supercomputer with the help of MLIT specialists and its subsequent maintenance was considered. The prospects for integrating the MSU-270 supercomputer, which focuses on artificial intelligence research, with the JINR “Govorun” supercomputer for joint use in solving scientific tasks were also discussed. A number of technical solutions used by the JINR MLIT team for the “Govorun” supercomputer hold great interest to MSU IT specialists. As practical steps to implement these plans, the parties agreed to organize several seminars in the near future at MLIT JINR and CMC MSU. It is worth reminding that the “Govorun” supercomputer, a scientific infrastructure facility of the JINR Member States, joined the unified National Research Computer Network of Russia (NIKS) in 2021, along with the supercomputers of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the Interdepartmental Supercomputer Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
