Participation of MLIT specialists in the MPD collaboration meeting

On 21–23 April 2026, the XVII collaboration meeting of the MPD (Multi-Purpose Detector) experiment at the NICA collider took place at the JINR Veksler and Baldin Laboratory of High Energy Physics. Specialists from the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies delivered talks on the work completed and future objectives. The event, held in a mixed format, brought together approximately 200 scientists from 11 countries to discuss the current status of the project and identify strategic directions for its further development.

In the report entitled “Centralized Database Services Architecture for Scientific IT Environments”, MLIT Lead Programmer Olga Vlasova discussed the advantages of a centralized database services model for scientific IT infrastructures using Fermilab’s experience as an example.

MLIT Lead Researcher Slavomir Hnatic presented a joint report on behalf of a team of MLIT and VBLHEP specialists. He spoke about the work completed, the current status, and plans for implementing the ACTS tracking system for data analysis in the MPD experiment. The talk focused on the integration of algorithms for tracking, clustering, and particle identification using machine learning and on performance optimization.

The meeting’s program covered a diversity of topics, from the state of detector subsystems to the issues of electronics, cooling systems, and the assembly infrastructure. Particular attention was paid to the commissioning of the MPD detector and scenarios for conducting the first runs. The MPD facility is expected to be operational at the point of interaction in October of this year.
