Congratulations to Edik Ayryan on his anniversary

On 6 May 2026, Edik Ayryan, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Assistant Director for International Cooperation and Human Resources of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, celebrates his 75th birthday..

In 1973, Edik Ayryan graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Yerevan State University. After graduating from the university, he started working as junior researcher at Yerevan Physics Institute. From 1977 to 1985, he was assigned to the Department of Computational Mathematics of LCTA JINR to perform joint studies in the field of numerical methods and computational mathematics.

In May 1985, Edik Ayryan defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Numerical algorithms on a sequence of grids for solving magnetostatics problems”. From 1992 to 2020, he worked as Head of the Sector of Computational Physics of LIT JINR. In November 2020, Edik Ayryan was transferred to the position of Assistant Director for International Cooperation and Human Resources of the Laboratory of Information Technologies.

During his work, Edik Ayryan has established himself as a qualified specialist in the development of effective algorithms, the creation and application of software packages to solve different problems of computational physics, including the modeling of nonlinear processes.

Edik Ayryan has been Chairman of the Science and Technology Council of MLIT JINR for 25 years. Since 1992, he has headed a group of Armenian specialists by the appointment of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Armenia at JINR. He maintains active scientific ties with colleagues from the JINR Member States, including Slovakia, Bulgaria, Armenia, etc.

A special place in his scientific and pedagogical activity is occupied by long-term cooperation with Tver State University and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University). He has been actively teaching for over 27 years, for more than 22 years he was Professor (until 2014) and is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of General Mathematics and Mathematical Physics of Tver State University. His interaction with RUDN University is connected with the development of scientific and educational ties, the training of specialists and participation in joint scientific events.

Two Ph.D. theses were defended under the supervision of Edik Ayryan. He is the author of over 170 papers in Russian and foreign journals, scientific collections, and conference proceedings.

Edik Ayryan was awarded the departmental badge of distinction in labor “Veteran of Nuclear Energy and Industry”, the Certificate of Honor in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of JINR, the commemorative medal on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Technical University of Košice, Slovakia, JINR’s Honorary Diploma and JINR’s Certificate of Honor, he has the title of “Honorary Fellow of JINR”. He enjoys well-deserved respect and high authority among his colleagues
