Congratulations to Galina Vasilievna Shestakova on her anniversary On 16 May 2026, Galina Vasilievna Shestakova, a lead programmer of the Scientific and Technical Department of External Communications and Distributed Information Systems of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies, celebrates her anniversary. G.V. Shestakova started her career at JINR in April 1979 after graduating from the Faculty of Cybernetics of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute with a degree in applied mathematics. She participated in the creation of a system for generating and subsequently processing artificial events based on the Hydra modular programming system. From 1982 to 1986, G.V. Shestakova took an active part in the enhancement of methods for analyzing data obtained by scanning images from tracking cameras in a measurement system based on the HPD scanning machine. From February 1986, G.V. Shestakova developed software to support the JINR Accounts Department and the accounting offices of the Pilot Production Department and the Chief Power Engineer’s Department. From 1998 to 2005, she elaborated and created software packages for generating reports for the Pension Fund and registers of the wages section of the Accounts Department, the accounting offices of the Pilot Production Department and the Chief Power Engineer’s Department; she also provided their maintenance and modification. G.V. Shestakova was transferred to the position of 1st category software engineer in April 2014 and to the position of lead programmer in May 2018. Since 2009, G.V. Shestakova has been actively involved in the creation and development of the JINR Scientific Publications Repository on the basis of various software platforms. She successfully implements a wide range of work to modernize the functionality and improve the quality of content of the information system; she has developed a number of services for the JINR Science & Technology Library. Within the working group developing an information system for the BM@N experiment, G.V. Shestakova is engaged in the elaboration and enhancement of the web interface for the configuration database of the BM@N experiment. For her colleagues, Galina Vasilievna is a reliable partner, she conscientiously performs assigned tasks, knows how to navigate difficult situations, and enjoys well-deserved respect within the team. For her many years of diligent work, G.V. Shestakova was awarded the departmental badge of distinction in labor “Veteran of Nuclear Energy and Industry” in 2005, JINR’s Certificates of Honor in 2016 and 2021. In 2024, as part of a group of authors, she received JINR’s Second Prize for methodology, research, and technology papers devoted to the development of a software complex for the implementation of a unified architecture for distributed data processing and storage at the BM@N/NICA experiment.
