MLIT research program in life sciences presented to Serbian scientific community On 7 July 2026, within the JINR Days in Serbia, Senior Researcher of the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies Alexander Uzhinskiy delivered a talk on the application of IT technologies in life sciences. The report was made during a plenary session on nuclear medicine and biomedicine, at which JINR scientists also presented research work in the field of radiobiology and radiochemistry. Alexander Uzhinskiy’s talk entitled “Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technologies in Life Sciences” focused on MLIT’s capabilities in the context of fostering cooperation between Serbia and JINR. Alexander described the computing resources of the Govorun supercomputer and the HybriLIT heterogeneous platform. Among studies carried out at MLIT, the report highlighted the application of artificial intelligence methods in biology, agriculture, and environmental monitoring. Alexander Uzhinskiy also spoke about MLIT’s joint project with the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences and the University of Belgrade, dedicated to the calibration of portable air quality monitoring sensors using neural network and quantum methods. Opportunities for developing joint projects in these and other areas were also discussed during a visit to the BioSense Institute, a leading European organization implementing advanced technologies in ecology and agriculture. The JINR Days in Serbia were held in Belgrade on 6 – 9 July, bringing together scientists, representatives of ministries, and innovation and educational centers. The major topics for discussion during bilateral meetings organized between the delegation of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the heads of national agencies and research centers of the Republic were the expansion and strengthening of scientific and educational partnership, the implementation of joint projects, and JINR’s support in creating a research infrastructure in Serbia.
