On 2 March 2023, the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies hosted 3-5-year students and teachers of the Department of Automated Systems for Computing Complexes of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of Lomonosov Moscow State University, who were accompanied by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Deputy Head of the Faculty for Scientific Work V.V. Fomichev and Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the above Department R.L. Smelyansky.

MLIT Director S.V. Shmatov and Deputy Director T.A. Strizh welcomed the delegation. MLIT Scientific Leader V.V. Korenkov introduced the guests to the scientific directions of the Laboratory and ongoing events (conferences, student schools), expressed hope for closer cooperation and interaction with MSU in the future. MLIT Scientific Secretary O.Yu. Derenovskaia described the major directions of MLIT’s activities and modern IT technologies for solving scientific and applied tasks. M.I. Zuev (researcher, MLIT) gave details of one of the components of the JINR Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex (MICC), i.e., the “Govorun” supercomputer, spoke about its architecture and the tasks solved on it.

After the lectures, the students went on excursions. I.S. Pelevanyuk (researcher, MLIT) talked about interesting facts from MLIT’s history and presented the MICC. Then the delegation visited the interactive exhibition “JINR Basic Facilities”, where they got acquainted with all areas of JINR’s activities. Thanks to the interactive models of the exposition, the students were able to look into all the Laboratories of the Institute and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the experiments being conducted.

The students gained new knowledge that would be useful in further education and broadened their horizons.
