Results on new scientific directions presented at JINR Spring IT School
On 9–10 April 2026, the JINR Spring School of Information Technologies took place at the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies. The Spring School represents the second stage of the JINR IT School, where students demonstrate the results of their work within scientific groups.
The School was opened by its ideologist and major organizer, MLIT Scientific Leader Vladimir Korenkov, who highlighted that despite the fact that it was not easy to perform significant work in six months, many of the School’s participants nevertheless succeeded. JINR Scientific Leader Victor Matveev underlined in his welcoming speech that information technologies played a key role in scientific research today. JINR Vice-Director Latchesar Kostov and Director of the JINR University Center Dmitry Kamanin, along with representatives of the universities whose students participated in the School, addressed the participants. The unifying idea among the speeches was that such collaboration with a leading scientific institute was both a great honor and a unique chance for students, since it opened up the opportunity for them to participate in advanced scientific research.
Commenting on the Spring School, its scientific secretary, MLIT researcher Daria Priakhina pointed out that the School’s participants had chosen very diverse and interesting tasks to work on. These embrace data processing and analysis (including the application of machine learning methods), the creation of services for the JINR Digital Ecosystem, and the development of systems to support the experiments at the NICA accelerator complex. For the first time, the School featured talks on network information security and engineering infrastructure automation.
“This summer, our participants will defend their bachelor’s and master’s theses based on these projects,” Daria Priakhina said. “But among the participants there were also very young students of the second year of studies. For them, this is their first start, their first project, their first truly serious work. We sincerely hope that they will continue their projects and further collaboration with JINR.”
Following the Spring School, the winners of the best report competition were announced: Andrey Budnikov (Voronezh State University), Alexander Ignatyev (Tula State University), Andrey Dubrovin (Tula State University), and Sergey Berezin (Tver State University). All students received recommendations for participation in the MSU Universiade and for admission to the master’s course entitled “Data Processing Methods and Technologies in Heterogeneous Computing Environments” at the MSU branch in Dubna.
A total of 24 students from leading Russian educational institutions, including Tula State University, Dubna State University, Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Voronezh State University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, National University of Science and Technology MISIS, Tver State University, and South-Russian State Polytechnical University, took part in the 2026 Spring School of Information Technologies.
