Fostering cooperation between MLIT and scientific organizations of Republic of Kazakhstan

On 25 March 2026, the Meshcheryakov Laboratory of Information Technologies hosted a delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan, which included Vice-Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gulzat Kobenova, Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Dzhumadildayev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan at JINR, Director General of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy (INP ARKAE) Sayabek Sakhiev, and Head of the Strategy and Sustainability Department of INP ARKAE Adilzhan Serikov.

The delegation was welcomed by the MLIT Directorate: Director Sergei Shmatov and his Deputies Nikolay Voytishin and Dmitry Podgainy, Scientific Leader Vladimir Korenkov and his Deputy Tatiana Strizh, and Scientific Secretary Olga Derenovskaia.

The issues of jointly creating a data center in Almaty and training specialists required to operate it were discussed. Taking into account the need to establish a dedicated telecommunications channel between JINR and China, equipping this data center with a network infrastructure within the joint project was considered.

The prospects for joint research at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in the CMS and NA64 experiments were also talked over.

In addition, the representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan expressed interest in high-performance and quantum computing, including using the JINR “Govorun” supercomputer

Representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, VBLHEP senior researcher and head of the Kazakhstan national group at JINR Yerzhan Mukhamejanov and MLIT researcher Yelena Mazhitova, participated in the meeting.
