Topic: "LEO Satellite Mega Constellations – the `New Space’ potential"
Organizers: Annotation:
Reusable boosters and compact satellite design have made it viable to deploy thousands of low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites offering broadband Internet, imagery, IoT, and other services from space. Inter-satellite lasers and low latencies of LEO make communication efficient. The panelists will discuss these opportunities alongside the challenges that might arise due to fast-moving LEO satellites, transient up/down links, weather and interference issues, ground station scarcity, and many other factors. They will also touch upon the interesting systems research challenges.

The Twelfth National Supercomputer Forum (NSCF-2023)

November 28, 2023 - December 1, 2023
Program Systems Institute of the RAS
Pereslavl-Zalessky, Russia
Overview:

The Twelfth National Supercomputer Forum (NSCF-2023) will be held in a hybrid mode from November 28 to December 01, 2023. The plenary session November 28 will be held in person, sections will be held mainly online. Reports from the plenary session will be broadcast on the YouTube channel of the organizing committee, which will give everyone the opportunity to connect and watch the broadcast.

The NSCF is dedicated to the creation and application of HPC technologies, supported by the Department of Nanotechnologies and Information Technologies of the RAS.

National Supercomputing Forum (NSCF) traditionally takes place in the last week of November each year at the Program Systems Institute of the RAS (Pereslavl-Zalessky). At the moment, the NSCF is one of the largest HPC events in Russia.

NSCF invites to participate
  • supercomputers developers, system and applied software engineers;
  • grid and cloud technology and service developers;
  • representatives of Russian HPC centers;
  • postgraduate students and young scientists working in HPC sphere;
  • HPC users.
NSCF format
On the platform of the National Supercomputing Forum the following events are held:
  • Research and practice conference;
  • The Exhibition of HPC hardware and software components;
  • A series of tutors and workshops;
  • A series of round table discussions;
  • A media-tour.

To participate in the scientific and practical conference, you must submit an application for participation by 17:00 on October 06, 2023 by uploading the abstracts of your report to the site, through the participant form at My account. Further, the authors will have the opportunity to finalize the text of the report in compliance with all necessary conditions (more details here).

Attention! Extension of the deadline for submitting reports
Due to the fact that not everyone had time to prepare and upload their abstracts on time, the organizing committee decided to go to the meeting and extend the deadline for submitting reports to the scientific and practical conference within the framework of the NSKF-2023 until October 16, 2023 (inclusive).
At this stage, until 17:00 on 10/16/2023, it is necessary to submit a PDF with a description of the report: any volume, any content (full article, abstract or full article with pieces "...the section will be completed later ..."), any formatting is at the discretion of the authors. There is one goal here: the PDF should convince the program committee to include the report in the Forum Program.
Further, the authors will have the opportunity to finalize the text of the report in compliance with all necessary conditions.

If you want to submit a report for a specific section, we ask you to select a section from the drop-down list when uploading the report or specify the section name in the comments to the report file, this will greatly facilitate the work of the Program Committee.
Detailed information about the rules for submission, selection and publication of papers for the NSCF-2023 conference can be found at: https://2023.nscf.ru/nauchno-prakticheskaya-konferenciya / or download as PDF.

Overview:
Thursday, 23 March 2023, at 3:00 PM in the Frank Laboratory of Neutron Physics (FLNP) Conference Hall (3rd floor) and online on Zoom the Joint Laboratory Seminar will be held.

Seminar topic: “Presentation of the collection “Problems of optics of long-wavelength neutrons””
Speaker: Alexander Frank
Abstract:
Apparently, the only way to create a sufficiently intense UCN source at a pulsed reactor of moderate power is to implement the idea of F. L. Shapiro about pulsed filling of UCN traps. To ensure the pulsed nature of the neutron flux at the entrance to the trap, which is remote from the neutron source, it was proposed to use a time lens of one design or another. Later, the concept of a source appeared, based on the combination of a magnetic time lens and a magnetic resonance device that slows down neutrons. A recent analysis has shown that when using a moderating flipper with a sufficiently strong magnetic field, the resulting UCN flux should have a pronounced pulsed structure even in the absence of a time lens. This idea can serve as the basis for the first phase of the UCN source project at the IBR-2 Reactor. In addition to obtaining UCN of moderate intensity, the implementation of the proposal will make it possible to test the basic principles of the design of a magnetic time lens and to demonstrate for the first time the method of pulsed filling of UCN traps.

Topic: "What is 6G and what are the research challenges: the vision of the European 6G Flagship project Hexa-X"
  • Mikko A. Uusitalo – Head of a Research Department, Radio Systems Research Finland, Nokia Bell Labs
  • Patrik Rugeland – Master Researcher, Radio Networks Architecture & Protocols, Ericsson Research, Sweden
  • Bernard Barani – Deputy Head of Unit, European Commission “Future Connectivity Systems”
Organiser:
  • Serge Fdida – Professor of Computer Sciences, Sorbonne Université
Annotation:
European 6G Flagship Hexa-X has been working since Jan 2021 with a strong participation from both industry and academia. The Hexa-X vision is to connect human, physical, and digital worlds with a fabric of 6G key enablers. This talk will present the latest results from Hexa-X and an initial view on Hexa-X-II having just started. Topics covered include updated use cases for 6G, initial E2E architecture, addressing sustainability needs as well as updated technical enablers on 6G radio and sensing, connected intelligence and addressing vertical industry needs. More on Hexa-X from https://hexa-x.eu/ and on Hexa-X-II from https://hexa-x-ii.eu/
